I have been fortunate enough that my creative journey has taken me on many rewarding directions, balancing fun, entrepreneurship and business.
As a previous landscape oil painter who was trained in the classical & masters techniques, it was time to move into a more “useable” art medium. I became engaged for many years of furniture painting as well as working with interior decorators focusing on wall murals and faux painting.
Painting California wildflowers emerged as a contribution to my daughter’s class fundraiser, a wine country themed gift basket. My thought was “why not have fun drinking wine”. A new business was born!
Many wineries and gift stores were ecstatic to offer handmade California inspired gifts. I eventually opened my own home accessory & gift store expanding from wine glasses to include glass & wooden bowls which were much needed wedding gifts that were more meaningful and to be cherished forever.
We are fortunate to live in the hills of Northern California that are prolific with Spring wildflowers, which has inspired & challenged me for the past 20 years to paint with botanical floral accuracy, not a simple swish of the brush.
As my first art instructor would say “the magic is in the details”.
